Controller, John Stanton, presented Dinah with an O.D.Y. sharing, “I want to recognize your diligence in collecting refunds owed to Team Fishel. You discovered we had overpaid a California tax by approximately $20,000 a few years ago. You took the initiative to contact the state, work through the red tape and amend the filings to get us the refund. In addition, we received several credits for Make Ready Work for Louisville and PSG from a significant customer. However, their policy is to not transfer the credits to other accounts, and to not pay refunds unless all account balances were zero. You worked diligently with various contacts and were able to convince them to send us over $30,000 in refunds.”

Regional Area Manager Charles Bass wrote, “This award is being presented as a result of Bobby’s actions and efforts to assist a homeowner while working on the APC project in Vestavia Hills. It came to light that he had noticed a home in the neighborhood that clearly needed attention. He learned the homeowner was elderly and sick and whose family was not in a position to help him take care of the yard. Bobby asked the homeowner if it would be ok for him to mow the yard at no cost. He initially brought his own lawnmower and mowed his yard after work as well as trimmed his hedges and bushes, and then repaired the homeowner’s lawnmower. Bobby’s actions were recognized by his Teammates and without his knowledge they shared his efforts.”

Charles continued sharing to Bobby, “You showed three of our company values of Be the Solution, Promote Team Fishel and Commit to High Performance through your efforts that you did not seek any recognition for. You really “Out Did Yourself” and we are fortunate to have a Teammate like you. We all really appreciate your efforts and the example you set on a daily basis of what it is to be a Teammate.”

Jacob Hunt was awarded an O.D.Y. for receiving a compliment from our customer, Duke Energy, commending his accuracy with off/on times for a planned outage. The email from Duke reads, “I would like to praise Jacob Hunt with Team Fishel. Jacob called in a planned outage on 11/2/2023 and was within 3 minutes of the actual time off/on. The actual time off/on was 0913/1158 and Jacob had it called in as 0912/1200. I haven’t ever checked AMI GO for outage times for our Contactors and had anyone this close. This may not seem like a big deal but this goes a long way on our reliability goals when they are this close. We don’t always check the times but I just happened to check this one.”

Virginia Area Manager John Palladino said, “We recognized Meghan Krom for her incredible efforts in getting our outstanding invoices paid this year. We were carrying a large unpaid balance and Meghan worked very hard to follow-up and track all of it until it was collected. We thought we were going to have to possibly take reserves this year but Meghan got it all paid.”

Tony Johnson, Accounts Receivable Manager, added, "I just processed and updated an aging report for your team. WOW!!! is the first word that popped into my head. You have absolutely crushed it with getting our aged accounts cleaned up. On June 14th, that 120+ day aging balance was north of $1.8M. Today, it's just south of $40K and if I'm looking at it correctly, the invoices that make up the remaining 120+ day balance are scheduled to be paid within the next week. Keep up the good work!"

John finished by commenting, “CFO Heather Mills was so happy that she sent Meghan a card in the mail.”

Josh Peeples was presented with an O.D.Y. for a compliment we received from Dominion Energy. Dominion Energy received a call from a homeowner to compliment Josh and the interactions he had with him throughout the course of the project we did on his property. Dominion shared, “Please pass along the compliment and thank you Mr. Fox called in about Fishel Teammate Josh Peeples. Mr. Fox has been somewhat of a “challenging critic” to this entire process, for him to call me and pass along a compliment about Josh is a big deal! Please thank Josh from us as well!”

Dayton Area Manager Jake Vite said, “In June of 2023 while the crews were working in Hidden Valley, IN a USIC locator became cold and clammy and stopped sweating. He was not making sense as he was speaking. Teammate Brad Rickett got the USIC locator into an air conditioned vehicle and tried to make him comfortable with cold rags until his supervisor arrived. From there he was rushed to the ER where he was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. The attending physician told the patient that if not for the actions taken by those around him he would have succumbed to heat stroke shortly thereafter.”

Brad is receiving this O.D.Y. for quickly responding to the aid of someone in need of medical attention, for recognizing the signs of heat exhaustion and how to treat until medical personnel arrive.

Jake finished by sharing, “Thank you Robert and congratulations on receiving this O.D.Y. award! It’s Teammates like you that make Team Fishel the Best Choice for our Teammates, our customers, and the communities that we serve.”

Dayton Area Manager Jake Vite said, “In July of 2023 while the crews were directional drilling in Maineville, OH a subcontracted flagger was managing traffic when a driver, angry that he was being stopped, got out of his car and started yelling and assaulted the flagger on duty. Daniel Smith saw this and ran over, tackled the assaulter and held him down as he called 911. The police showed up and took the assaulter to jail.”

Daniel receives this award for quickly responding to the aid of someone being attacked, for making sure the assaulter was contained and for taking steps to make the area safe. Thank you Daniel and congratulations on receiving this O.D.Y. award!

Joey Gressett and Logan Sprouse were both awarded an O.D.Y. to recognize their efforts involving a serious accident they came upon. Supervisor Craig Frazier shared, “On 11/1 there was a double fatality on interstate 64 at about 5pm. Joey and my crew were the first people on scene. Joey was helping people get out of the mangled vehicles and Logan was administering First Aid once the people were removed from their vehicles. This was an extremely unfortunate event, but our Teammates were quick thinkers and used the training provided to possibly save someone's life.”

Virginia Area Manager John Palladino said, “Daniel was awarded an O.D.Y. this week for his consistently thorough JHAs, one of which recently earned him a 5 out of 5 score in the JHA section of an LSA that JD Cutlip completed for Daniel's crew.”

Tucson Division Manager Eliu Melgoza shared, “On November 13th, the Tucson BSW crew arrived to perform work on a buried service wire. This crew is composed of the crew leader Julio Vazquez and laborer Jason White. As Julio approached the front door to advise the customer of their arrival and inform them of the work, he observed through the door a gentleman laying on the floor. From the front door he asked the gentleman if everything was ok. Julio asked if he needed help, the gentleman motioned yes. Julio instructed Jason to call 911. They waited with the gentleman until the EMTs arrived. The gentleman was the 88-year-old homeowner who slipped and fell the day before and unfortunately had not been able to get back up. Both the customer and the EMTs shared their extreme gratitude to the Teammates for calling for help. Our Teammates were fortunate to be at the right place at the right time and went the extra mile putting to practice our Guiding Principles of Fishelosophy.”

Zach Wurzelbacher, Olebogeng (Lebo) Modiselle, and Ian Kerr

PSG-OH Project Manager, James Spurgin, presented 3 Teammates with a well-deserved O.D.Y. award for going above and beyond from October 30th - November 17th helping PSG Arizona complete 223 miles of Verizon as-builts and close out packages that Team Fishel promised the customer. This was done with very aggressive timelines which Zach Wurzelbacher, Lebo Modiselle, and Ian Kerr tackled with the utmost urgency.

Each of them with prior commitments of other customer training and a workforce development event, committed to completing this customer’s deadline.

James shared, “These Teammates demonstrate the highest commitment to Team Fishel’s Core Values and deserve to be specially recognized. Congratulations!”

Nevada Area Manager Rob Haworth shared, “A foreman came into the office, had a life threatening event and 4 Teammates all worked together to stabilize the Teammate until the ambulance arrived, possibly saving this long-time Teammate's life.” The group was recognized and awarded at a joint All Hands Meeting with the Las Vegas & Henderson office.
